Troop 449 is a member of the Chief Black Dog district of the Northern Star Council.  We are sponsored by Advent United Methodist Church in Eagan MN.

Troop 449 was formed and is fed primarily by Cub Scout Packs 449 and 452 which are affiliated with Glacier Hills Elementary School and Pinewood Elementary School respectively.

Troop Meetings

Troop meetings are held at Advent United Methodist Church on the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Monday of each month.  The troop meetings begin at 7:15 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m.

Monthly Outdoor Events

The troop plans one major outdoor (or related activity) each month.    Typically, this event is held the weekend following the 2nd Thursday of the month.

Annual Long Term Camp

The troop participates in a week of camping at Tomahawk Scout Reservation.  This event is usually held the first full week of August.  This is an excellent opportunity for first year Scouts to gain experience with extended camping.  Additionally, Tomahawk offers lots of  opportunities to work on merit badges, participate in adventure activities, and to simply have a great time camping!

Annual High Adventure Event

The troop plans one long-term High Adventure camping event each year.  This event is usually held in July each year.
In 2003, a group went to the Boy Scout High Adventure base in Florida called SeaBase.
In 2004, a group went to the Boy Scout High Adventure base in Florida called SeaBase. Another group of boys went to the Boundary Waters canoeing.
In 2005, a group of boys went to the Boundary Waters canoeing.

Community Service

Troop 449 participates in the Minnesota Highway Department's "Adopt a Highway" program.  Troop 449 has adopted a two mile stretch of Lexington Blvd.   Road clean-up normally occurs on the last Saturday of May, July, and September.

In addition to the Adopt a Highway program, Troop 449 is also active in Northstar Council's "Scouting for Food" project.
