YMCA Lock-In 2003

For the second year in the row, Troop 449 Scouts formed up for a formidable task that had to be accomplished. The departure date was set for Friday night, February 7, 2003.  The objective was to beat last year's record for staying up ALLLLLLLL night long at the "Y!"  Once again it was PARTY NIGHT at the YMCA for the Scouts of Troop 449! All challenges were readily taken  on and defeated to include: swimming, basketball, movies, popcorn, pizza, board-games, pool, air hockey, field hockey, and plenty of good old fashioned running around and just having fun! After the fact it sure seemed like a planning error to include sleeping bags. Shall we just say that they did NOT get a lot of use.  After we rallied at the church around 9:45PM to gather up everyone we then drove directly to the "Y" and hit the pool.  Following two hours of swimming, water sliding and horseplay it was time to clean up and chow down on some hot pizza!  Luckily there was plenty to go around, even for those who desired cold seconds (it is the food of choice to be washed down with cold pop)!  Saturday morning we certainly didn't have to wake many scouts up for a nutritious breakfast of donuts, milk, and juice. Following breakfast and a quick check to make sure no one left any gear we loaded up and delivered each attendee to his front door. Mom and Dad didn't even have to get out of bed for this one! Next came the recovery... at least for the adults who will need the remainder of 2003 to recoup for YMCA Lock-In 2004!!!
