May 7-9, 2004, Whitewater Campout Despite
the weather, many of our scouts seemed to enjoy the campout. We did a
numerous amount of various activities throughout the day, on little sleep. A
raging storm approached us on Friday night and it continued to rain for many
long hours during the night. On Saturday morning we went on a hike to see
Chimney Rock. It was a long climb of the steep hill, but it was worthwhile.
Chimney Rock had a couple of small tunnels that we enjoyed climbing through.
After lunch we went to hear a talk about rattlesnakes from a park ranger. Due
to the lack of sleep, many of us began to doze off during it. We went on a
fossil hunt later that afternoon, which seemed be exciting among the scouts.
Some of us found some really neat stuff. The night ended as a usual camping night
would: around a campfire. The weekend was great and we went home satisfied. Troop 449’s Historian Bobby H. |
