253 |
Mike, Chris and Albert review the dive with our Dive
master Scott. |
254 |
Carl made the mistake of falling asleep on the deck for
the hour ride back to camp. Un-named
people put the outline of a Dive flag and the initials FSB (Florida Sea Base)
on his back with sun tan lotion. With
the sun that day, it left a fine mark on his back. |
255 |
Katie, Kyle D and Kyle S. look on as the un-named people
pull their prank. |
256 |
Mason (a staff Dive master) is thinking about heading home. He left Sea Base for the summer the next day to head back to
school in Austin Texas. |
257 |
Katie showing off her new Dive hat with Kyle D chuckling
next to her. |
258 |
Hey Albert |
259 |
You can see a bit of the dive flag on Carl's back as Mike,
Dave and Chris look on. |
260 |
A group of people working on a service project for the
S.C.E.N.E.S. patch. |
261 |
They did a roadside cleanup. |
262 |
But they still took their water bottles. It was very hot out that day. |
263 |
Next they cleaned up some of the grass that was coming
into shore. |
264 |
Yet another game of V-ball. |
265 |
Terry and Eric continuing their weeklong Cribbage
match. Eric ended up winning the
week, 9 games to 7. |
266 |
O.K. gang, what do we do now? Sit inside in the A/C? Or Go outside in the 95+ heat and play volleyball? |
267 |
On our last night at Sea Base, Ed volunteered his crew for
flag lowering duties. (Carl, Kyle S. Mike and Chris) |
268 |
Carl caught the flag before it touched the ground as our
very own Christopher played taps on a bugle. |
269 |
Let the folding begin. (Carl, Chris and Mike) |
270 |
Lil Schu running back from where he was blowing Taps on
the Sea Base bugle. |
271 |
"The blue needs to be on the outside" |
272 |
"You fold it in the shape of a Triangle" Carl
kids Kyle. |
273 |
Mike is supervising his crew in folding the flag properly.
(Kyle, Carl, Chris and Mike) |
274 |
Ross instructs the Color Guard to "Return to
Ranks". |
275 |
Ed has a surprise.
We never knew he was a public speaker. |
276 |
"David, you have earned Scoutings Highest Rank. Would all the Boy Scout Eagles, Exploring
Silver recipients and Girl Scout Gold recipients please for a line behind
David" |
277 |
Ed asks David to repeat the Scout Oath |
278 |
Terry, Christopher, Scott (our Dive master) and other
Eagles support David during the ceremony. |
279 |
Mike, Ross and Terry also lend their support as fellow
Eagles. |
280 |
Carl, Kyle S., Chris and the Chaplin look on in
surprise. Only a few people knew what
Ed was up to. |
281 |
Katie was a Girl Scout "Gold" rank recipient,
which is equivalent to the Boys Scout Eagle.
This entitled her to be in the line. |

Ed recites the "Eagle Challenge" |
284 |
David had a lot of people lending support. |
285 |
Kyle S was given the camera. I guess he was getting a little bored. |
286 |
Will wonders what all the hoopla is about. |
287 |
Katie was given the honor of pinning on his Eagle
Metal. She only drew one drop of
blood. |
288 |
"I almost have it." |
289 |
Eric captured the event on video. |
290 |
An airplane flew by.
I'm glad Kyle D. caught it. |
291 |
We then said grace and went to the Luau |
292 |
This is where Lil Schu met up with some Fire Coral. He still has a few of the blisters. |
293 |
There was some great seafood for the Luau. Stuffed Crab, grouper on a stick and crab
cakes. |
294 |
Chris and Katie we able to go inside the sub. |
295 |
Dave and Mike try the new form of tug-o-war. |
296 |
Ready, Set, Pull. |
297 |
It Kelsey's turn this time. |
298 |
"I'll get you, I'll just smile at you" |
299 |
The Chaplin walking back to the dinning area after the
dinner. |
300 |
People were in Luau attire. |
301 |
The two Crew Chiefs, Kyle D and Mike caught up with the
Captain of the B.S.A. Scoutmaster dive boat. |
302 |
They presented him with one of our contingent's class B
shirt, which had been signed by both crews. |
303 |
The camp director told us later that that was the first
shirt he had received. He was very
touched by it. |
304 |
What Luau is complete without a limbo. Here Lil Schu easily clears the bar. |
305 |
Chris makes it thru with Carl ready to go next. |
306 |
Katie says "its all in the shades." |
307 |
How low can you go tall Mike? |
308 |
"Yea, I made it.
It was easy" |
309 |
Kelsey shows her flexibility |
310 |
Christopher shows off his head bob. |
311 |
David’s out, his knees touched. |
312 |
Kyle S. clears it easily. |
313 |
Go Chris. "I
think I can, I think I can.." |
314 |
This is serious business, Carl removed his shirt. |
315 |
Katie falls after catching her heel on her dress. |
316 |
Mike does it yet again. |
317 |
So does Kelsey |
318 |
Kyle S can go very low. |
319 |
So can Mr. Flexible (Carl) |
320 |
Mike wonders if he can really do it? |
321 |
Yo, I never had a doubt |
322 |
The look of concentration as Lil Schu addresses the bar. |
323 |
But not good enough. |
324 |
And the winner is Kyle S. |
325 |
One of the really cool staff members (he was from St.
Cloud MN) trying to be funny |
326 |
The Iowainan crew told us the signs of a Sea Base Dive Master. Ed, one of our adults favorite joke was: "What's the only good thing to come out of
Iowa?" "Interstate 35!!!" HA HA HA |
327 |
The crew did a good job with these jokes. |
328 |
They sounded an awful lot like Red Neck Jokes. |
329 |
The Eating Contest: to see which crew could eat 5 bowls of
peaches the fastest. |
330 |
The crew from Michigan decided to sing a song for us. I
forget how it goes. |
331 |
Everyone just kept laughing in the middle of the song. |
332 |
The Classic Minnesotan skit. The super high-speed muggers,
using very special equipment. |
333 |
This crew had Sonny for their dive master. Now Sonny
always seemed to be late for something. This crew decided to pick on Sonny in
times when he forgot to come to something. |
334 |
This crew did a skit about not having a skit. How
original. |
335 |
The Staff at Sea Base were getting a kick out of all of
these funny things that crews were doing. |
336 |
Our crews from Minnesota did a variety of skit's and
presentations. |
337 |
Such as one about Baltazar. A broom master. |
338 |
With his little background singers, Kyle and Kyle. |
339 |
Baltazar could make a broom travel all around his body
without letting go of his grip. |
340 |
And then everyone started to do stand up singing, to songs
they had sung all week. |
341 |
Scott and rest of the staff got a real kick out the stand
up comedy. |
342 |
Then Kyle Smith did his little song thing. |
343 |
Both crews gave our Dive Masters (Scott and Shaun) our
contingent's Class "B" shirts.
Each crew had signed them. |
344 |
Ed and Terry gave the crew chiefs (Mike and Kyle D.) a Sea
Base Dive Flag signed by everyone.
The Crew Chiefs were the go to person by the staff. They made the adult’s job very easy. |
345 |
Awards were given to the people who caught the biggest
edible fish, and the biggest none edible fish. Those were big fish man. |
346 |
Baltazar (Carl) could even balance a chair on his hand, a
broom on his chin, and even pick his nose with his tongue. |
347 |
Baltazar could also play the drums on his mouth. |
348 |
Sonny got up to say his little bit. |
349 |
After the Lau, the crews got together for the
"Conch" ceremony. We each
talked about what we liked and experienced during the week. Can someone unplug Terry's shirt from the nuclear power
supply? |
350 |
Carl just felt like hanging around on top of the
volleyball net post. |
351 |
And Kyle toped that by standing on top of the post of the
volleyball net. |
352 |
A late night volleyball game. |
353 |
And the other team. |
354 |
And there it went so now Katie has to chase it down. |
355 |
Kelsey's getting into her ready stance for volleyball. |
356 |
And the team huddle that consisted of players from the
other team. |
357 |
Some of the staff joined the late night game. Rachel on the left and Sonny on the right
of the pole (both are Dive masters). |
358 |
Lil Schu and Big Schu |

"We're leaving on a Jet Plane. Don't know when we'll be back again." |

Carl being his "Monkey" self, climbed the
pillars at the Minneapolis Airport while he waited patiently for his ride. |
