It was a long trip up for the 9 boys and 5 adults attending Gooseberry Falls State Park, but we did stop for McDonalds in Duluth. Once we got to Gooseberry we set up our tents in the dark. It had a very nice group site for tenting. On Saturday morning, we began our 7.5 mile long hike to Split Rock Lighthouse. On our way there we climbed on the rocks on the shore of Lake Superior, we explored Gooseberry Falls and ate lunch on the trail. Before we arrived to Split Rock, it began raining hard and none of us had brought our rain gear with us. Once we got to Split Rock, we toured the lighthouse and watched an informational movie. Afterward we went back to our campsite and ate dinner before making a fire. Dane, John and Nick helped Michael get his tote’n’chip. Late that night we went back to the shore and listened to and caught some of the thousands of frogs living on the rocks along the shore. After that we went to bed so we could get up early on Sunday and head home.
