Road Trip to Ripley

June 1-3, 2007

By:  Submitted by Alex M.

18 boys and 6 adults left Fri. evening for a 2 hour drive to Camp Ripley. We slept in tin steel huts while some other troops slept in tents. 10,000, the place was packed with 10,000 Boy Scouts! On Saturday morning, we visited the Spam-mobile and military vehicles. In the afternoon, the younger boys went to activity stations and learned bandages and knots. Older boys went and did shotguns and archery. Later on it stormed hard and had to stay in concrete buildings. MREs (meals ready to eat) did not work well. They cancelled the evening show so we got bored. Most boys played Yu-gi-oh! They had huge lines for food and I will not forget the plastic bags. Next morning we packed and went home. Dane said his biggest memory was playing king of the hill on the big pile of sand.
