Lutsen Mountains Ski Trip - 2006

February 10th thru 12th, 2006

By Christopher S.

The weekend activity started out like every other one for us…late. We got a late start out on the road due to a swim meet that Chris had to be at. But we hit the road and drove for a couple of hours, stopped for food and then headed out the rest of the way. When we got to the resort at 1:00 in the morning we were astonished by what we found. A beautiful cabin that was fully furnished with a home entertainment center, but we would have to wait to use this. Now it was time to go to bed.

Lutsen has a lot of runs.

We start the day bright and early. Well that’s not really what happened. We got started making breakfast at about 7:30 in the morning, and everybody was up by about 8. We had simple toast, eggs and bacon. The sandwiches for lunch were made before we left for the ski area.  Then we hit the slopes. We had a fun time carving up the slopes earlier. At least Mark and Bobby were. Then there was me, who was just trying to figure out what to do. Then later in the day Mark had a smart idea. That was to take us down a double black diamond that was a freestyle run with cliffs. Luckily we got through it.

Can you say MOGAL!!!

We then met for lunch, and rode the gondola across the valley, and continued with the slopes. About an hour before we had to turn in for the day we ran into Taylor, “E”, and there group that came up here with their church (Advent Methodist, our sponsor). We chatted with them awhile, but then we had to leave so we came back to the cabin.  Mr. Schumacher with the aid of Mr. Homan made the group a fantastic beef stew and biscuits. A little while later we decided to hit the spa. Bobby had thus great idea to sit in the sauna for a while to get really hot, then run out into the snow and roll around. Then we came back and had pie

We then watched the Shawshank Redemption and Air Force One., and went to bed so we could get up early for skiing.

On our final day we got up and had pancakes, and hit the slopes early. After about two hours of skiing mountain to mountain we ran into Taylor and E’s group again with whom we spent most of the day. They decided to hit a lot of freestyle runs. They were much better skiers than I was. They had to leave at about 2:30 that afternoon, so we hit a couple more runs then turned in our stuff and hit the road for the way home.
