Troop 449 - Iron Chef Family Cookout
November 2005
|
|
It was Saturday morning as we started to cut up and get ready for the Iron Chef contest. The Iron Chef is a cooking contest and
Troop Court of Honor. This Iron Chef was a very special because a scout’s dad, named Vince LaCroix, is still very sick.
So we dedicated this Iron Chef to him!
At about 10:00 we started to cook the meals. The menu was pizza, tacos spaghetti, quesadillas, nachos, salad, wontons and Darn Goods
which are fried donuts in oil with a Heresy Kiss in the middle. For dessert we had cobbler and cake.
For this Iron Chef we had awards. They were for creative naming, presentation, taste, teamwork and technique. Every patrol got an
award. We got awards during the ceremony. In the Court of Honor Ceremony, we had to carry a torch to light the fire.
These torches were dunked in kerosene gas and it got on my hand so I thought I would set on fire.

The main thing at this Iron Chef was to show that we were thinking of the LaCroix family. We made a stew for the whole LaCroix
family. The rule was everyone had to stir the stew before we left. We made the stew not just as a get well gift, but as a thank you
gift because he is a big help to our troop.
At the end of the Iron Chef, you have to clean up which takes forever. We also had to clean out our patrol cook kits. But it was the best Iron Chef ever.
